Found in Valle de Cauca department of Colombia at elevations around 976 meters as a small sized, warm growing, caespitose epiphyte with erect ramicauls enveloped by a tubular sheath on the lower third and 2 others at the base and carring a coriaceous, ovate, acuminate to long acuminate, deeply cordate at the base leaf that blooms in the later spring on a fascile of up to 4, arising through a spathe, successively several, single flowered inflorescence with tubular, papyraceous, acute, shorter than the pedicel floral bract and carrying yellow, glabrous, membraneous flowers.
"Pleurothallis celsia is most similar to Pleurothallis folsomii (Luer & Endara) J.M.H.Shaw from which it can be distinguished by having a 3-veined dorsal sepal (vs. 5-veined) and most notably by its lip, which is widely ovate, the surface and margin pilose and papillate, with the base of the glenion densely vesiculose (vs. ovate, the surface smooth and the margins serrate, the base of the glenion smooth)."
