Common Name or Meaning Chavez's Pleurothallis [Costa Rican Discoverer of species current]

Found in Guanacaste province of Costa Rica at elevations around 1100 meters as a medium sized, cool growing, caespitose epiphyte with slender, erect ramicauls enveloped by a close tubular sheath in the lower third and 2 others at the base and carrying a single, suberect, coriaceous, ovate, acute, sessile and deeply cordate base leaf that blooms in the fall on a fascile of ascending, short, subtended and enveloped by a spathe, peduncle .04 to .12" [1 to 3 mm] long, successively single, few flowered inflorescence with tubular, shorter than the pedicel floral bracts.
"The flowers are of average size for the section with a boadly elliptical, concave, three veined dorsal sepals ad long as the narrow acute synsepal. The petals are narrowly elliptial, acute and minutely denticulate at the base. The lip is narrowly pandurate, acute apically , narrowed above the dilated base. The basall fourth is filled witha shallow, circular cavity." Luer 1996
