Found in Jalisco, Michoacan, Guerrero, Mexico and Oaxaca states of Mexico on sea-ward facing slopes or in humid sub-deciduous forests at elevations of 1500 to 2400 meters as a small sized, cool to cold growing, caepitose to shortly repent epiphyte with stiff, erect ramicauls carrying a single, apical, thick, rigid, sessile, oblong, obtuse apically and below into the elongate, channeled, petiolate base leaf that blooms on a apical, arising through a narrow spathe, short, stiff, erect, fasciculate, 1" [2.5 cm] long, few [4 to 5] flowered inflorescence with thin, infundibular, just shorter to just longer than the ovary floral bracts and holding the flowers close to the base of the leaf.

"Closely allied with P circumplexa differing mainly in the lack of decurrance of the margins of the leaf on the wings or the ramicaul.
