Found from Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Venezuela and Trinidad in coffee plantings and forests, epiphytic, high up on large Liquidambar trees at elevations up to 1800 meters as a mini-miniature sized, caespitose, warm to cool growing epiphyte, with erect, slender, more or less flexuous at nodes along the ramicauls enveloped by 4 to 8 lepanthiform sheaths with ciliate ostia carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, narrowly elliptic , acute leaf that is cuneate below to the petiole and is suffused with purple and blooms in the spring through fall on a apical, erect, arising from near the apex of the ramicaul that is much shorter than the leaf, peduncle .2 to .4" [.5 to 1 cm] long, short to 1" [to 2.5 cm], distichous, fasciculate, racemose, simultaneously opening, several flowered inflorescence and having a large triangular basal bract carrrying flowers that have a moveable lip which will quiver in the slightest breeze and can have several [up to 12] successive inflorescence arising from the same leaf axil.
"The small purplish flowers are produced in a short, distichous raceme. The sepals and petals are ciliate, simlar to those of T blaisdellii . The lip is ciliate and oblong, not nessessarily only twice as long as wide. The conical callus at the base o is more similar to T memor thatn T blaisdellii." Luer 1997
