Common Name The Mindful Trichosalpinx [Refers to the similarities to T. ciliaris]
Flower Size 1/32" [2 mm]
Found from Cuba, the Windward Islands, Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Guyana, Surinam, Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador and Bolivia in wet montane forests at elevations of 800 to 2150 meters as a miniature sized, warm to cool growing, caespitose epiphyte with a dark reddish brown, slender to stout, erect ramicaul enveloped by pubescent, lepanthiform sheaths with a single, apical, ellptic, minutely bidentate, gradually narrowing below into the petiolate base, opaque reddish green leaf that blooms in the fall through spring on a dense, short, distichous, simultaneous few to several flowered inflorescence that is minutely pubescent and arises through a sheath at the leaf base with the flowers held close to the leaf base.
"Although the flowers vary little morphologically except for size, the taxon is especially variable vegetatively. The synonym Trichosalpinx greenwoodiana is a giant sized example of this variability.
