Common Name The Hollow Lip Pleurothallis

Found in Guatamala, Nicaragua, Venezuela, Ecuador and Bolivia? at elevations of 650 to 1100 meters as a mini-miniature sized, warm to cool growing, caespitose epiphyte with slender, erect ramicauls enveloped by 2, thin, tubular sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, elliptical, subacute to obtuse, cuneate below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms at most any time of the year on an erect, arising laterally from the ramicaul, 1.6" [4 cm] long, filiform, loose, flexuous, successively several flowered inflorescence with tubular, 1/4 as long as the pedicel floral bracts.
"In habit, structure of the sepals and petals as well as the general shape of the lip, thos remarkable novelty is reminiscent of P samacensis but however, it differs in the hollowe lip, this witha small orbicular opening at the center of the disc. Further the apical portion of the lip bears long hairs which are not present in P samacensis." Heller & Hawkes 1966
