Common Name The Delicate Flowered Pleurothallis

Found in Napo, pastaza and Zamora-Chinchipe provinces of Ecuador and Peru on felled trees in wet montane forests on the eastern slopes of the Andes at altitudes of 500 TO 1700 meters as a small sized, warm to cool growing, caespitose epiphyte and sometime terrestrial with erect ramicauls enveloped basally by 2 to 3 tubular sheaths and carrying a single, erect, apical, elliptical, acute, petiolate leaf which blooms in the late spring on a long, arising from a long spathe with an annulus from near the apex of the ramicaul, apical, arching, longer than the leaves, several flowered, simultaneously opening inflorescence with oblique, acute, as longas the pedicel floral bracts..
" Distinguished by the lip that is less than .346" [9 mm] long, between 1/2 to 2/3's the length of the synsepal. It is narrowly ovate, acute, flat, rigid and somewhat thickened for the entire length. The flowers are most similar to P schweinfurthii which are significantly larger with a subulate lip about as long as the synsepal." Luer 1998
