Found in Santiago-Rodriguez province of the Dominican Republic at elevations around 450 meters as a mini-miniature sized, hot growing, caespitose epiphyte with a slender, erect ramicaul enveloped by 1 to 2, loose, tubular sheaths and carrying a single, erect, coriaceous, elliptical, subacute to obtuse, cuneate below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the fall on a erect, arising from near the middle of the ramicaul, slender, .4 to .6" [1 to 1.5 cm] long peduncle, congested, successively single, few flowered inflorescence with a thin, imbricating, as long as to slightly shorter than the pedicel floral bract.

"Characterized by the tiny, tuftedspecies with a fascile of pedicels borne by an elongated, filiform peduncle beyond the small, elliptical leaves. The only other Caribbean species with a similar fasciculate inflorescence is P trichyphis from Cuba, but it has an oblong lip without erect margins while the new species has a lip with rounded erect margins."
