Common Name The Large Flowered Pleurothallis

Found in Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia in montane forests at elevations of 1100 to 3300 meters as a small sized, cool to cold growing, caespitose epiphyte with erect, slender ramicauls enveloped basally by 3 tubular sheaths and carrying a single, apical, cordate, apically tridentate leaf that blooms in the summer and fall on a single flowered, short inflorescence with a thin, tubular, much shorter than the epedicel floral bract and holding the flower against the leaf base.
P grandiflora is similar to P adonis, P deflexa, P linguifera, P millei, P siphoglossa and P sarcochila in the large sized flowers.
