Found in Manabi, Esmeraldas and Los rios provinces of Ecuador in littoral forests at elevations around sealevel to 100 meters as a miniature to small sized, hot growing, shortly repent epiphyte with erect, slender, terete ramicauls with a close fitting sheath below the middle and 2 to 3 others at the base and carrying a single, apical, erect, thickly coriaceous, purple suffused, elliptical, acute, cuneate below into the sessile base leaf that blooms in the late spring and summer on a loose, arising through a spathe at the base of the leaf, distichous, 1.8 to 2.2" [4.5 to 5.5 cm] long including the .6 to .8" [1.5 to 2 cm] long peduncle, simultaneously several flowered inflorescence with as long as the ovary floral bracts with an apiculum.
"Very similar to P verrucuna but it has an acute, retrorse, marginal lobe s of the lip. Both species have thick, acute, elliptical leavesw and a short lax raceme. Both grow more or less pendent because of the weight of the leaves." Luer 2004
