Common Name The Pico dos Marins Pleurothallis [refers to the mountain where the orchid occurs]

Found in Sao Paulo state of Brazil in montane forest at elevations around 1750 meters as a mini-miniature [without inflorescence] sized, cool growing epiphyte with an inconspicuous rhizome giving rise to cylindrical, terete, 2 articulated, ramicauls provided with persistent, tubular sheaths and carrying a single, green, erect, subcoriaceous, elliptic-lanceolate, without an evident rib, acute apically, gradually narrowing below into the base leaf that blooms in the fall on a terminal, arising through a diminished spathe, peduncle cylindric, semierect, longer than the leaf, elongating, to 2" [5 cm] long, flexuous, zig-zag, branching apically, each apical branch successively single, several flowered inflorscence with triangular, acute floral bracts.
Similar to Pleurothallis pleurothalloides but differs in the shorter dark purple lip with the lateral lobes higer and having a double callosity from the lip base to 1/4 of the central lobe.
