Found in Zamora-Chinchipe province of Ecuador and Piura department of Peru in lower montane forests near or on very steep slopes at elevations around 800 to 2000 meters as a small sized, warm to cool growing, caespitose epiphyte with very slender, suberect, terete ramicauls enveloped by 1 papyraceous sheaths at the base and one below the middle and carrying a single, erect, green suffused with purple at the margins and the underside, slightly convex, coriaceous, microscopically papillate, ovate, channeled in the middle, acuminate, slightly falcate at the apex, cordate below into the sessile base leaf that blooms in the later spring on an erect, arising through a suberect, spathaceous bract, fascicle of successively single flowered inflorescence with a infundibuliform, slightly longe than the pedicel floral bract.

"Pleurothallis marioandresavilae has been confused in cultivated specimens with P. complanata, which is the most similar species. But the new species differs by shorter leaves shorter pedicel, acute, yellowish-brown, verrucose dorsal sepal (vs. obtuse to rounded, yellow-green, glabrous), 4-veined, elliptical-oblong, obtuse lateral sepals (vs. 6–veined, ovate, acute), narrowly oblong petals (vs. narrowly linear-triangular), elliptical, verrucose-striated lip (vs. oblong-ovate, minutely verrucose), and bilobed glenion (vs. obovoid) ."
