Common Name or Meaning The Large Nosed Pleurothallis [refers to the protruding lip]

Flower Size .8" [2 cm]

Found in Antioquia department of Colombia at elevations around 2350 to 2650 meters as a miniature to medium sized, cold growing, caespitose epiphyte with erect, slender ramicauls enveloped below the middle by a closely adpressed, tubular sheath and 2 to 3 others at the base and carrying a single, erect, coriaceous, narrowly ovate, acute, cordate below into the sessile base leaf that blooms in the spring on a reclining, arising through and concealed by a spathe, a fascile of successively single, few flowered inflorescence with tubular, shorter than the pedicel floral bracts.

"Slender ramicauls bear narrowly ovate, horizxontal leaves nearly as long. The large gaping flowre with a protruding lip sits on top of the base of the leaf. The sepals are broad and multivweined, the petals are broad and three veined and the ovaoid lip stands erect beneath the column. The sides above the middle are rolled under to create an obtuse, tubular apex." Luer 2005
