Common Name The Reverse Egg-Shaped Pleurothallis

Flower Size .12" [3mm]

Found from Nicaragua, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Guyana, Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Brazil and Argentina in wet montane forests or piedmont forests at elevations of 500 to 1800 meters as a small sized, warm to cool growing, caespitose epiphyte on tree trunks with erect, slender ramicauls enveloped basally by 2 to 3 tubular sheaths and another below the middle carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, elliptical to elliptical obovate, subacute to obtuse, cuneate below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the fall and winter on a short fascicle of capillary, fractiflex, laxly 3 to 4 flowered inflorescence with the flowers held close to the leaf base.

Luer feels that P citrina is distinct from P obovata with which it is often allied but they differ in P citrina having 1 to 3 erect, distantly flowered racemose inflorescence that often reach beyond the middle of the leaf, P obovata on the other hand has a single disheveled, shorter, few flowered racmose inflorescence.
