Common Name or Meaning The Pointy Headed Pleurothallis [Refers to the coloumn]

Found in Zamora-Chinchipe and Tungurahua provinces of Ecuador and Huanuco and Pasco departments of Peru in elfin forests and along roadbanks at elevations of 1000 to 1800 meters as a small to medium sized, cool growing, caespitose terrestrial or epiphyte with suberect, slender ramicauls enveloped basally by 1 or 2, closely apressed, tubular sheaths and another below the middle and carrying a single, apical, spreading, often suffused with purple, thickly coriaceous, rigid, concave, ovate, acute, basally sessile, deeply cordate and with overlapping lobes, leaf that blooms on a fascile, arising through a spathe, of successively single [sometimes more], few flowered infloresence with a thin, tubular, as ong as to just shorter than the pedicel floral bract.
"A few tiny, brownish, suborbicular flowers are borne at the base of a horizontal, rigidly concave, deeply cordate leaf. The dorsal sepal and synsepal are broadly ovate, concave and obtuse, the red petals are entire, subfalcate and acute and the minute lip smaller than the column is obong-ovate. The callus on the center of the lip noted in the original descriptiom is reduced to a low, indistinct callis on other specimens. The base of the lip without any deflexion is attached on the end directly to the thick base of the column." Luer 2005
