Common Name The Broad Petaled Pleurothallis
Flower Size .2" [5 mm]
Found in Putumayo department of Colombia at elevations around 2350 meters as a small sized, cold growing, caespitose epiphyte with slender, erect ramicauls enveloped by a close tubular sheath in the lower quarter and 2 others at the base and carrying a single, apical, spreading, coriaceous, narrowly ovate, acute, sessile and cordate base leaf that blooms in the winter on a reclining, arising through a narrow spathe, fascile of successively single, few flowers with tubular, shorter than the pedicel floral bracts.
"Part of the Pleurothallis cardiostola/Pleurothallis lilijae complex. Distinguished by the medium habit with slender ramicauls that bear narrowly ovate, acute leaves cordate at the base. The yellow-green flowers are comparatively large with broad multi veined dorsal sepals, three veined, shortly acuminate petals and an oblong-ovate, obtuse lip with a glenion at the base. The petals are similar to those of P. cardiostola." Luer 1996
