Found in Pinchincha province of Ecuador at elevations aroumd 1500 meters as a small sized, cool growing epiphyte with stout, erect ramicauls with a close tubular sheath on the lower fourth and 2 more at the base carrying a single, horizontal spreading, coriaceous, ovate, acute, long acuminate, sessile, deeply cordate base leaf that blooms in the later spring on a short, fascile of peduncles hidden within the fugaceous spathe successively single flowered inflorescence with a thin, tubular, as long as the pedicel floral bract and carrying flowers with yellow microscopically ciliate sepals, yellow petals and a prone yellow lip.
”This species is another close relative of P bivalvis but is distinguished by the ovate, acuminate leaves and small flowers. Although the floral pattern is similarwith an ovate doral sepal, and a similar ovate synsepal, and oblong, denticulate petals, the lip differs with a broadly truncate base with a distinct, elevated glenion, a broadly concave disc with erect, denticulate margins and a thick callus beneath the apex.” Luer 2005
