Common Name Sancho's Pleurothallis [Costa Rican Botanist and cocollector of species 1900's]
Flower Size 1/4" [5 mm]
Found from Altaverapaz department of Guatemala, Cartago, Alajuela amnd Heridia provinces of Costa Rica and Chiriqui and Cocle provinces of Panama in lower montane rainforests at elevations of 860 to 1500 meters as a miniature sized, warm to cool growing, caespitose epiphyte with rigid ramicauls subtended by 2 tubular sheaths and carrying a single, apical, lanceolate-elliptic, cordate, coriaceous, fleshy leaf that is conduplicate at the base blooming in the late spring through late winter on a short inflorescence with thin, tubular, shorter than the pedicel floral bracts and carrying 1 or 2 simultaneously opening flowers held close to the leaf base.
CAUTION This species can be confused with P correllii and P leucantha so please check all three to see the differences
Similar to P nitida but P sanchoi differs in the smooth margined petals.
