Common Name or Meaning Steyermark's Pleurothallis [American Orchid Collector in Venezuela 1900's]

Found in Tachira state of northwestern Venezuela and northeastern Colombia at elevations around 2500 meters as a small sized, cold growing, caespitose epiphyte with erect, stout ramicauls with a tubular sheath near the middle and 2 to 3 others at the base and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, elliptical, acute, acuminate, cuneate below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the summer on 1 to 2, arising through a spathe at the apex of the ramicaul, pendent, 4.4" [11 cm] long, including the 1.2" [3 cm] long peduncle, loosely several flowered inflorescence with an as long as the pedicel floral bract.
"Vegetatively similar to P lindenii but differs in the distinctly 3-lobed lip with an acutely triangular anterior lobe while the obliquely oblong basal lobes surround the column." Luer 1999
