Common Name or Meaning The Scooped Pleurothallis

Flower Size .15" [3 mm]

Found in Morona-Santiago and Zamora-Chinchipe provinces of Ecuador at elevations around 1000 to 1650 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cool growing, densely caespitose epiphyte with erect ramicauls carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, elliptic, obtuse, gradually narrowing below into the sessile base leaf that blooms in the fall on a lateral, to 2.4" [6 cm] long, elongating, successively single flowered inflorescence with spicolate, shorter than the pedicel floral bracts.

"Similar to P samacensis but distinguished by the yellow, tailess, spiculate sepals that are thickened towards the apex. The minutely serrated petals are attenuated above the middle with or without slightly swollen tips to the south of its range. The black lip is spathulate with the apical third rounded and microscopically papillose. The loose, successively flowered inflorescenee creeps through the surrounding substrate." Luer 2006
