Common Name or Meaning The Conspicuous Little Veined Pleurothallis [refers to veins of the sepals]

Flower Size .4" [1 cm]

Found in Cochabamba Department of Bolivia at elevations around 2850 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cold growing, caespitose epiphyte with slender, ascending to pendent ramicauls enveloped by a loose tubular sheath in the middle third and 1 to 2 more at the base and carrying a single, erect, dark purple brown, thickly coriaceous, narrowly elliptical-ovate, acute, cuneate below into the sessile base leaf that blooms in the summer on a single, erect, peduncle less than .2 [5 mm] long, arising through a spathe .2" [5 mm] long, arising from the base of the leaf, .4 to .6" [1 to 1.5 cm] long overall, simultaneously few flowered inflorescence, with almost as long as the pedicel and ovary floral bract and carrying flowers with fleshy yellow suffused with red brown sepals transluscent yellow petals with a thick red midvein and a thick red brown lip.

"This species is superficially similar to P lojae but P venulosa is distinguished by the narrower leaves and a shorter inflorescecnce. The veins of the sepals are conspicuously thickened or subcarinate. The sigle vein of the petal is also prominently thickened. The lip is thick with erect, rounded margins below the middle with intramural calli near the middle and a pair of verrucose calli in the disc below the middle." Luer 2004
