Podangis is a monotypic genus from West Africa through Sierra Leone and the Cameroons then south to Angola and east to Tanzania in wet rainforests from 750 to 1950 meters It is a mini fan of bilaterally flattened, iridiform leaves, it has white glasslike or hyaline flowers with a green anther and a large backward facing spur that is longer than it's lip, arranged on an inflorescence that is shorter than it's leaves, and likes intermediate to warm temps. Podangis was established as a genus by Schlechter in 1918, based on the former genus Listrostachys [Reichenbach].
