TYPE Drawing by J J Smith
Common Name The Mentawai Podochilus [A group of islands off the west coast of Sumatra]
Flower Size .16" [4 mm]
Found in Sumatra on Siberut Island at elevations below 100 meters as a small sized, hot growing epiphyte with long, branching, thin, internoded stems carrying coutspread, oblong-elliptic, acute, apiculate leaves that blooms on a terminal to lateral, simple or in clusters, peduncle, thin, .08" [2 mm] long, rachis .1 to .24" [2.5 to 6 mm] long, 2 to 4 flowered inflorescence carrying white flowers.
J J Smith puts this species similar to P scurioides but this one is distinct because of the longer mentum, the broader lip, which is widest above the middle, and a much longer, linear appendix.
