Common Name The Ignored Sarcoglottis

Flower Size .4" [1 cm]

Found in Alajuela, Cartago and Puntarenas provinces of Costa Rica, Cocle and Colon provinces of Panama, Choco department of Colombia, Peru, French Guiana and Brazil at elevations of sealevel to 1200 meters as a small sized, hot to cool growing terrestrial with 3 to 5, in a basal rosette, arising as the flowers fade, obovate-oblanceolate, elliptic to elliptic-obovate, acuminate, petiolate base leaves that blooms in the winter and spring on an erect, terminal, peduncle to 9.2 to 20" [23 to 50 cm] long, provided with 4 to 9, tubular, acute, longer than the internodes, herbaceous, glabrous sheathing bracts, rachis 3.2 to 9.6" [8 to 24 cm] long, laxly 4 to 16 flowered inflorescence with oblong-lanceolate, acute, herbaceous, almost glabrous, shorter than the ovary floral bracts and carrying rather small to medium sized, erect, tubular in the lower part, lime green or green with a yellow green lip, fragrant flowers.

" This species belongs to the S acaulis group, along with Sarcoglottis acaulis, Sarcoglottis hunteriana and S powellii but differs from them all in the straight lateral sepals which become recurved by bending."
