Found in Guatemala, Nicaragua, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Haiti, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Fr Guiana, Surinam, Guyana, Venezuela, Colombia, Bolivia and Brazil at elevations around 550 to 1800 meters as a miniature to small sized warm to cool growing terrestrial with a short stem carrying several, basal, coriaceous, linear-lanceolate, acute leaves and blooms in the late winter and spring on an erect, terminal, glabrous below and pilose above, 4" [10 cm] long, laxly several to many flowered inflorescence with the fragrant flowers held in a spiral and having, inflated, acuminate floral bracts that cover the ovary of each resupinate flower.
