Common Name The Itatiay Stelis [An Area of Minas Gerais Brazil]

Flower Size .36" [9 mm]

Found in Minas Gerais, Espirito Santo and Rio de Janiero states of Brazil at elevations of 900 to 1400 meters as a small sized, warm to cool, caespitose growing epiphyte with erect ramicauls enveloped by 2 to 3, tubular sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, elliptic-oblong, obtuse, gradually narrowing below into the shortly petiolate base leaf that blooms in the spring on a twice as long as the leaf, racemose, subsecund, erect to slightly flexuous, to 7.2" [18 cm] long, many flowered inflorescence with cucullate-ovate, shortly apiculate, half as long as the pedicellate ovary floral bracts and carrying grayish green to purple flowers.

Closely related to S superbiens a speceis from Central America.
