Common Name White Spotted Stenorrhynchos [refers to the white spotted leaves]
Flower Size
Found in Colombia, Ecuador and Venezuela at elevations of 2000 to 2800 meters as a medium sized, cold growing terrestrial that blooms in the fall on a terminal, erect, many flowered inflorescence.
Most likely this one and Stenorrhynchos nutans are synonyms of !Stenorrhynchos speciosum as the only real difference is in the white spotted leaves in this species case and a nodding inflorescence in S nutans. The flowers are essentially the same. Szlatchetko probably has it right to make them both varieties of S speciosum, but at this time I follow Kew in separating them to 3 distinct species.
Differs from !Stenorrhynchos speciosum in the white spotted leaves
Synonyms Spiranthes colorata var. maculata (Blume) N.E. Br. 1883; Stenorrhynchos speciosum var. albidomaculatum (Christenson) Szlach. & Kolan. 2019
