Common Name The Namasia District Tropidia [refers tothe locality of the type collection]

Flower Size .44 x .44" [1.1 x 1.1 cm]

Found in Taiwan in evergreen, broad-leaved forests on montane ridges at elevations around 1380 meters as a medium sized, cool growing terrestrial with a short, ascending rhizome giving rise to an erect, rigid, somewhat flattened stewm carrying a few, towards the apex, subopposite, ovate to lanceolate, acute to acuminate, margin wavy, 7 veined, 4 to 6 lateral veins between vens leaves that blooms in the later spring on an axillary, peduncle, 1.4 to 1.6" [3.5 to 4 cm] long, rachis congested, bracteate, 1.2" long and 1" [2.5 cm] wide, densely arranged, 20 to 35 flowered inflorescence carrying non resupinate, glabrous, white flowers.

Closely related to T angustifolia which it shares the shapes of the lips , column and length of the leaves, T namasiae differs in the much taller plant, from much higher elevations 1300 versus 60 to 800 meters 16 to 24" [40 to 60 cm] versus in T angustifolia 4 to 8" [10 to 20 cm] long, the ovate to lanceolate leaf shape versus linear to lanceolate the obtuse to widely cuneate leaf base versus cuneate leaf base, the shorter peduncle, more flowers, 20 to 35 versus 9 to 12, that are smaller in general.
