Found in Antioquia department of Colombia in upper montane forests at elevations around 2500 to 2750 meters as a large sized, cold growing terrestrial with an erect stem carrying 4 to 5, elliptic to obovate-elliptic, acute to shortly subacuminate subpetiolate base leaves that blooms in the later summer on an erect, peduncle to 8" [20 cm] long, rachis to 24" [40 cm] long, subdensely many flowered inflorescence woth lanceolate, acuminate just longer to as long as the ovary floral bracts and carrying pale green flowers with a central orange strioe on the lip.

Similar to C palaciosii but the peduncle is twice as long, a relatively narrower dorsal sepal and the lip callus with 2 divergent, ovate-rhombic lobules vs 2 transversely rectangular lobules. Also rather similar to C longicaulis but it differs in the relativfely longer lip and the callus is composed of 2 transversly rectangular lobules. Szlach & Kolan 2023
