Common Name The Nodding Epidendrum

Found from southern Colombia to NW Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia at elevations around 3000 to 3300 meters as a large sized, cold growing epiphyte with a very branched stem enveloped completely by tubular, imbricating, leaf-bearing sheaths with the younger ones above attached to subcoriaceous, oblong,acute, obtuse and obliquely bilobed apically, articulate to the leaf sheaths below leaves that blooms in fall on a short, terminal, 3" [7.5 cm] long, racemose inflorescence with a few to several flowers.
