Common Name The Magdalena? Habenaria
Flower Size 1.6" [4 cm]
Found in Minas Gerais and Rio de Janiero states of Brazil as a medium to large sized, cool growing terrestrial witha lanose-pilose tuber giving rise to an erect, leafy throughout stem enveloped by reticulate-venulose, long-lanceolate, acute, basally clasping leaves that blooms in the late summer on an erect, 4.8 to 8" [12 to 20 cm] long, densely many flowered inflorescence with membraneous, reticulate-venulose, lanceolate, acuminate, as long as the ovary floral bracts.
Similar to H secunda but the inflorescenceis more sparse and the smaller flowers are quite different in the shape of the petals and lip. The floral parts are completely entire as in H hexaptera, H curvilabra and H floribunda which are all similar but H magdalensis differs clearly in the size of the flowers and the abscence of wings on the ovary."
