Found in Surinam, Fr Guiana, Guyana, Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Bolivia and Brazil at elevations around 600 meters as a warm growing, caespitose epiphyte

CAUTION Many references put this species as a synonym of P funerea but Kew has it separate, I await better references.
