EARLY

Common Name The Flattened Pleurothallis [refers to the flower being adpressed to the leaf]

Flower Size .2" [5 mm]

Found in Morona-Santiago province of Ecuador in forests at elevations around 1100 meters as a small to just medium sized, cool growing, caespitose epiphyte with erect, slender ramicauls with a close, tubular sheath on the lower forth and 2 others at the base and carrying a single, apical, coriaceous, erect, narrowly ovate, acute, cordate below into the sessile base leaf that blooms in the early summer on an erect, arising through and concealed by a spathe, short successively single, few flowered inflorescence with a thin, tubular, shorter than the pedicel floral bract.

"Characterized by a narrowly ovate, cordate leaf borne by a long, slender ramicaul. The flowers are of average size for the section. Like P applanata the flower lies against the leaf. The dorsal sepal is obovate and three-veined with a rounded apex and longer han the sunsepal. The petals are entire and subulate and the oblong-ovate lip is minutely verrucose and slightly convex."
