Found in Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Venezuela and Trinidad in cloud forests at elevations of 900 to 2000 meters as a small to medium sized, cool to warm growing epiphyte and occasional terrestrial with an erect, apically wider and channeled ramicaul enveloped basally by 2 inflated, tubular sheaths and carrying a single, apical, elliptic, acute, gradually narrowing below into a conduplicate sinus leaf that blooms in the spring and fall on more than one erect, 6" [15 cm] long, several successively flowered inflorescence arising from a spathe and carrying non-resupinate flowers.

Said to be synomonous with P floribunda and if so this species takes precedence but as of now I leave them separatae
