LATE EARLY p>Common Name or Meaning The False D kurashigei Dendrobium
Flower Size .28" [7 mm]
Found in Sabah Borneo in hill forests at elevations around 400 meters as a small sized, hot growing epiphyte with erect to spreading, clustered, branching, very slender, leafy towards the apex stem swelling at the base into fusiform, slightly flattened pseudobulbs carrying linear, acutely bifid, thin textured, green to greenish purple leaves that blooms in the late summer and early fall on sessile, arising from the nodes of the upper portion of the stem, successively single, several flowered inflorescence with glumaceous, grey-brown floral bracts.
J J Wood puts together this group of related species, D lamelluliferum, D alabense, D kurashigei, D lumakuense, D pseudokurashigei and D puberulingue which may all be different or a widely variable species. More research needs to be done to address this confusing group.
