Common Name The Head Carrying Elleanthus

Flower Size

Found in Peru without locational data as a medium sized orchid with slender, delicate, simple, arcuate, leafy above stems and carrying 5 to 7, broadly lanceolate, oblong-lanceolate to elliptic-lanceolate, long-acuminate leaves that blooms on a terminal, capitate, abbreviated, .8 to 1.2" [2 to 3 cm] long, densely many flowered inflorescence.

This species, E deuterolindenii and E garayi all have an obscurely bilobed lip near the middle and fusiform, ovoid to ellipsoid lip calli, laterally more or less flattened and decurrent onto the disc. E cephalophora is the only species of the 3 with a lip wider than long." Szlatchetko & Kolanowska 2023
