Common Name GRy's Elleanthus

Flower Size

Found in Pichincha province of Ecuador at elevations around 2000 meters as a large sized cool to cold growing orchid with erect, basal part completly enclosed by remnants of leafy sheaths, leafy above stems and carrying 7 to 8 , broadly lanceolate, oblong-lanceolate to elliptic-lanceolate, long-acuminate leaves that blooms on a terminal, capitate, abbreviated, .8 to 1.2" [2 to 3 cm] long, densely many flowered inflorescence.

Similar to E deuterolindenii, but differ in the rhombic-ovate lip and an unlobed tabula infrastigmatica. This species E deuterolindenii, E cephalophorus all have an obscurely bilobed lip near the middle and fusiform, ovoid to ellipsoid lip calli, laterally more or less flattened and decurrent onto the disc. E cephalophora is the only species of the 3 with a lip wider than long." Szlatchetko & Kolanowska 2023
