Common Name Poilane's Habenaria [French Orchid Collector in SE Asia 1900's]

Flower Size .6" [1.5 cm]

Found in Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Combodia and Vietnam in open areas among granite rocks at elevations around 100 meters as a small sized, hot growing terrestrial with erect stems carrrying 2, basal, close to and partly adpressed to the soil, elongate-ovate to elliptic, unequal in size, subacute leaves grading above into 3 erect to spreading, narrowly lanceolate, acute sterile bracts that blooms in the later spring on an erect, terminal, glabrous, 6 to 8" [15 to 20 cm] long, 2 to 12 flowered inflorescence with ovate-lanceolate, acuminate floral bracts.

This species, H reniformis, H porphyricola, H humidicola, H siamensis, H humistrata, and H poilanei form a group of similar and possibly conspecific species and need more study to see if they can mainain their separate species status.
