Common Name Dunsterville's Pleurothallis [American Botanist in Venezuela 1900's]

Found in Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia and Venezuela as a mini-miniature sizedhot growing, caespitose epiphyte with erect ramicauls enveloped by loose, tubular sheaths and carrying a single,apical, erect, elliptic-oblanceolate to oblanceolate, obtuse to acute, attenuate below into the petioalte base leaf that blooms on an erect, much longer than the leaf, peduncle ancipitous, rachis distichus, to 12" [30 cm] long overall, successively single, few flowered inflorescence.
P deuterodunstervillei is part of the P endotrachys complex and closely related species which include P endotrachys, P pfavii, P dueteroremotiflora, P juddii, P spectabilis, P fulgens, P guanacastensis and P montezumae. The true P endotrachys is endemic to Costa Rica and can be recognized by the spreading, non-twisting lateral sepals and apically emarginate petals with a long, conspicuous apicule.
