Common Name The Helmeted Pleurothallis [refers to the dorsal sepal]

Found in Imbabura and Bolivar provinces of Ecuador at elevations around 2700 to 2800 meters as a mini-miniature to miniature sized, cold growing, caespitose epiphyte with slender, erect to horizontal ramicauls with a close, tubular sheath on the lower third and 2 to 3 others at the base and carrying a single, apical, suberect to spreading, coriaceous, oblong, acute, shortly acuminate, cordate below into the sessile base leaf that blooms in the fall on a fascile, arising through and concealed by a spathe, of successively single, few flowered inflorescence with a thin, tubular, shorter than the pedicel floral bract.
"A small reletive of P grandiflora and positioned between P deflexa and P grandiflora The deeply concave, seven-veined dorsal sepal is much broader than the pubescent, narrowly ovate synsepal. The decurved petals and the erect, ovate lip are fringed and papillose. A small portion of the margins of the lip above the middle is recurved." Luer 2005
