Common Name The Flat Smooth Flowered Pleurothallis

Found in El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama and Brazil at elevations of 1150 to 1900 meters as a small sized, cool growing, caespitose epiphyte with slender, erect ramicauls enveloped by a tubular sheath below the middle and 2 others at the base and carrying a single, apical, horizontal, coriaceous, ovate, acute, sessile and cordate base leaf that blooms in the winter on a reclining, with the .24 to .28" [6 to 7 mm] long, peduncle concealed by the reclining spathe, successively single flowered inflorescence with a tubular, shorter than the pedicel floral bracts.
Characterized by the cordate leaves, a 5 veined dorsal sepal, oblong, single veined glabrous petals and an entire ovate, obtuse lip with a tiny glenion. The 5 veined dorsal sepal distinguishes it from P antonensis
Similar species are what has been known as P antonensis and P matudana from which this one is separated by its 5 veined dorsal sepal and the 6 veined synsepal.
