Common Name The Phalanx Bearing Pleurothallis [refers to the inflorescence]

Found in Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador and Peru as a small to medium sized, cool to cold growing, repent to caespitose epiphytic or terrestrial herb at altitudes of 1200 to 3200 meters with slender, terete ramicauls enveloped basally by 2 to 3 spotted, tubular sheaths and carrying a single, apical, elliptic-ovate, apiculate, coriaceous, rounded basally and tridenticulate apically leaf that blooms in the winter and spring with a terminal, 6 to 10" [15 to 25 cm] long raceme held longer than the leaf with compressed basal sheath bracts and laxly few large, spidery flowers.
Similar vegetatively to P gomezii but it has a shorter than the leaf inflorescence and considerably smaller flowers and P rowleei has similar flowers.
