Common Name or Meaning The Leafless Veyretia

Flower Size .8" [2 cm]

Found in Minas Gerais state of Brazil, Guyana, Venezuela and Colombia as a small sized terrestrial with leaf absent at flwoering on an erect, lightly sinuous, delicate, peduncle [16.5 to 28 cm] long, provided with 5 to 8 subfoliaceous, sparsely pilose or glabrous, acuminate sheathing bracts, rachis 1.4 to 2.7" [3.5 to 7 cm] long, erect to slightly curved, 5 to 6 flowered inflorescence with erect-patent, very concave, narrowly lanceolate, longly acuminate, glabrous, longer than the ovary floral bracts and carrying erect-patent, white to white green flowers.

"Schlechter compared this species with Veyretia rupicola and Veyretia cogniauxiana but is distinguished from both by the shape of the lip which from a narrow base, widens oblongly and terminates in three small, obtuse lobules, which, although very small are quite evident." Hoehne 1945
