"Pseudobulbs often with 2, but sometimes only 1 apical leaf, sometimes mottled or spotted with brown or purple, flowers with yellow, brwn, pink or white sepals and petals, frequently but not alwaysspotted, marked or more or less covered in contrasting brown or purple colors, lip gerally and rigidly attached to the base of the olumn, commonlyby a very short and triangular, fleshy structure, sometimes fused to the lateral column floanks for a short distance as well, or sometimes by a longitudinal, central fleshy ridge generally with variably sized, and shaped, erct, basal and latereal lobes clasping the sides of the column to various degrees, although sometimes with very short, rounded and somewhat spreadinglobes, or rarely, without lateral lobes in which case the sepasl and petals are uniformly pink to reddish wothout any markings; column with the lowerpart generally in the same horizontal plane with the ovary and then more or less curved towards the lip, although sometimes basally straight and apically slightly curved away from the lip, with or without variously shaped apical wings and with an undivided stigma." Flowers with a lip about [35 to 50 mm] long and 1 to 1.6" [25 to 40 mm] broad, more or less concave, with the large lip lamina divided into several lobes, frequently and variably covered with acuminate denticles along the veins and descending abruptly downwards and away form the base of the column leaving it virtually free, and with the very base of the lip with very short, rounded, fleshy, slightly spreading lobes creating a distinct, short, longitudinal crevice a t eh base, or with an altogether small flower with about a 9mm long, wingless, straight column with protruding, swollen stigma lobes and the sepals, petals and particularily the lip microscopically pubescent.
