Common Name The Two Colored Bulbophyllum - In China Er Se Juan Ban Lan

Flower Size 1/2" [1.25 cm]

Found in Hong Kong and Vietnam on rocks and cliffs along streams at elevations of 100 to 500 meters as a miniature sized, hot growing lithophyte with ovoid, slightly sulcate pseudobulbs carrying a single, apical, elliptic, obtuse, gradually narrrowing below into the petiolate base leaf that and blooms in the spring on a basal, erect, 1.6" [4 cm] long, few flowered inflorescence holding the flowers towards the apex in an umbrel.

"The relationship between B. chinense (Lindl.) Rchb.f. and B. blaoense Aver. et Tich as per B bicolor remains unclear due to scarcity of available materials for study. It is quite probable that all these taxa are desire varietal status of the variable B. bicolor widely distributed in southern China, Vietnam and Laos with extreme northeastern enclave in Hong Kong. Available specimens of Bulb funingense differs from the B bicolor in the entire margin of median sepal (not denticulate or fimbriate) and curiously ciliate or fimbriate frontal surface of operculum."
