Found in Guangdong province of China as a mini-miniature sized, cool to cold growing epiphyte with a creeping rhizome that has an oblong-ovoid pseudobulb carrying a single, subsessile, lanceolate leaf that blooms in the summer on a basal, erect, slender, 4.8" [12 cm], often 9 to 10 flowered, umbellate inflorescence with 2 tubular sheaths and lanceolate floral bracts and carrying fragrant flowers.
"The relation between B.
chinense (Lindl.) Rchb.f. and B. blaoense Aver. et Tich vis a vis B bicolor
remains unclear due to scarcity of available materials
for study. It is quite probable that all these taxa are
desire varietal status of lone variable B. bicolor widely
distributed in southern China, Vietnam and Laos with
extreme northeastern enclave in Hong Kong. Available
specimens of Bulb funingense differs from in entire margin of median sepal (not
denticulate or fimbriate) and curiously ciliate or
fimbriate frontal surface of operculum." Averyanov etal 2016
