Common Name or Meaning The Expanded Encyclia

Flower Size 1" [2.5 cm]

Found in Antioquia, Colombia as a large sized, warm to cool growing epiphyte with with pyric or conic, wrinkled pseudobulbs subtended by basal bracts that become papery with age and carrying 1 to 4, linear to oblanceolate, fleshy leaves that blooms in the winter through spring on an apical, 2' to 5' [60 to 150 cm] long, suberect or pendant, many flowered, heavily paniculate inflorescence arising on a newly matured pseudobulb.

Now said to be a synonym of Encyclia replicata but I await better references before uniting them.

E maderoi, E magdalenae, E edithiana, E garzonensis and E expansa are all considered to be E replicata by Kew. I have kept them all separate for now.

CAUTION I have no way of verifying this determination sp please use with caution!
