LATE

Common Name The Magdalena Encyclia [Rio Magdalena of Colombia]

Flower Size 1.5" [3.75 cm]

Found in Cundinamarca department of Colombia, near the rio Magdalena at elevations of 1200 to 2000 meters as a large sized, cool growing epiphyte with pyriform pseudobulbs carrying 2 to 3, linear-ligulate, coriaceous leaves that blooms in the winter and again in the late spring on an erect, 40" [1 meter] long, paniculate, laxly many flowered inflorescence with ovate-triangular, shorter than the pedicel floral bracts

Similar to E selligera but E magdalenae has shorter floral bracts, smooth, thin sepals and petals and the lateral sepals are subobtuse/subacute." Szlatchetko & Kolanowska 2023

Now considered to be a synonym of E replicata, I have left them separate pending better references.

E maderoi, E magdalenae, E edithiana, E garzonensis and E expansa are all considered to be E replicata by Kew. I have kept them all separate for now.
