Pleurothallis subgenus Kraenzlinella (Kuntze) Luer 1986

Characterized by the stout ramicaul that is shorter than the leaf and blooms from the apex of the ramicaul at the base of the leaf with a racemose inflorescence without an annulus. The ovaries are spiculate, echinate or with scale -like appendages. The large, fleshy flowers have free sepals and in all species but one the petals bear basal auricles, the lip is variable and the elongate column is more or less clavate with the ventral anther hooded and has a short thick column foot with the end of the ovary.
