Common Name Sexton's Pleurothallis [American Orchid Enthusiast current]
Flower Size .4" [1 cm]
Found in Colombia without collection data as a small sized, shortly repent-caepsitose epiphyte with stout, erect ramicauls enveloped by a short, close, tubular sheath below the middle and 1 to 2 others at the base and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, elliptical-ovate, acute, acuminate, cuneate and sessile base leaf that blooms on a loose, arising through a reclining spathe, distichous, 6" [15 cm] long, simultaneously many flowered, racemose inflorescence and has a thin, tubular, as long as to slightly longer than the pedicel floral bracts.
"Most similar to P lopezii but distinguished by leaves that are cuneate basally instead of deeply cordate lobed, twice larger flowers and an entire, cordate lip. Differs from P dentipetala by the thrice larger flowers in a raceme longer than the leaf. Differs from P gomezii in the raceme longer than the leaf, minutely but coarsely erose-fimbriate petals and a cordate lip. Differs from P rowleei in the larger habit, ercose-fimbriate petals and a cordate lip. Differs from P longipedicellata in the twice larger flowers, the short-pedicellate flowers in a raceme longer than the leaf and erose-fimbriate petals." Luer 2002
